Course Description:

This class will focus on general liability exposures and coverage concerns that are specific to both general contractors and subcontractors. The class will begin with a review of operational exposures and continue through products as well as completed operations exposures. The class will then look at the Commercial General Liability Policy and review the coverage triggers, definitions and exclusions that pertain to contractors. The class will conclude with the problems associated with adding a party as an additional insured.

The topics that will be covered include:
  • General Contractors and Subcontractors Operational Exposures
  • Construction defect litigation risks
  • Occurrence coverage triggers and limitations added by carriers
  • Definitions including BI; PD; Your Products; Your Work; Products-Completed Operations Hazard and how these definitions impact coverage for both the general and the sub contractor
  • Additional insureds including edition dates required by contract; waiver of subrogation; primary and non-contributory requirements
